Asian Colleges To U.S. Counterparts


University of Hong Kong Vs. Columbia University

University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Located in Asia's melting pot, Hong Kong, HKU is one of the most prestigous universities in the region, making it Asia's Columbia. Founded in 1911, HKU is known for its popularity with international students. There are more than 3,700 non-local undergraduates, 308 of them from North America. In addition, there are 464 exchange students from American countries. Annual tuition is about $16,800. Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925), the founding president of the Republic of China, graduated from Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, the predecessor of HKU.
